I needed a dressier black boot that I could step off a city curb into slush or snow and stay dry and warm but end up at a concert looking chic. This is the boot. I have wide feet and it fit like a glove right out of the box. So I ordered the brown as well. This boot is not as clunky looking as the photo. It works well with a long dressy skirt and a dressy coat, even fur, if you are so inclined. It was a little pricey but I will get good wear from it.
